Mruttu Salmann Associates has a wide client base.  We have handled jobs for Governments, Local Governments, Multinationals, Parastatals, Financial Institutions, Academic Institutions and Religious Institutions, Corporate and private clients.

Range Of Services

Our scope of services has primarily been within Kenya. We have successfully implemented jobs in virtually all provinces and hence have very good and valuable exposure to most kinds of terrain and site conditions. The firm has successfully implemented several projects ranging in complexity from an International Airport to large projects for parastatal bodies and international clients as well as medium and small projects.

Some of the major projects handled by the firm include:

POSTA SACCO PLAZA: A prestigious 16-storey Office Building for the Posta Savings & Credit Co-operative Society Ltd. along University Way, Nairobi. Completed in June 1993.

INDIAN OCEAN BEACH CLUB: An exclusive hotel/club with 100 rooms and related facilities designed to the highest international standards for the Block Hotels Ltd. Phase I- Completed in 1991 PHASE II (2010- on-going)

FACULTY OF ARTS & SOCIAL SCIENCES, EGERTON UNIVERSITY: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences  various buildings comprising of Lecture Theatres, Offices, Libraries, Laboratories and Research Offices the University at Njoro, Nakuru.  Completed in 1996.

USHIRIKA ESTATE, JUJA RD., NAIROBI: A medium class housing estate comprising over 200 residential units complete with a nursery school and shopping centre. Completed in 1988

KCB RUNDA ESTATE, NAIROBI: An executive housing estate developed by Kenya Commercial Bank comprising 85 units. This also involved provision of roads, street lighting and water systems. Completed in 1989

KENYA WILDLIFE SERVICE HQS: New headquarters buildings for the Kenya Wildlife Service at the Nairobi National Park, along Langata Rd., Nairobi – funded by the World Bank. Completed  in 1998.

BANKING PREMISES: over 60 branches of the various major banks in Kenya, namely Kenya Commercial Bank, National Bank of Kenya, Co-operative Bank of Kenya, Barclays Bank of Kenya, Bank of Africa and Consolidated Bank of Kenya.

HOSPITALS/HEALTH CENTRES: Extensions and rehabilitation to various hospitals at Kitui, Malindi, Voi and the Nairobi Spinal Injury Hospital, Nairobi.

ELDORET INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Phased development of new international airport with cargo and passenger terminals as well as an airbase for Western Kenya. Completed in 1993.

NATIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY FUND: A multi storey commercial development in the city centre for the NSSF along Monrovia Street expected to be completed in two phases. Phase I completed in 1998-2001 whereas Phase II started in 2011-ongoing.

FUNGUO HOUSING PROJECT: A large housing estate along Mbagathi Way comprising flats, maisonettes, flats, shopping centre and nursery school. Completed in 2001

UCHUMI SUPERMARKET: Langata Hyper Market for Uchumi Supermarkets. Completed in 2003

EGERTON UNIVERSITY:  Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences a complete set of faculty buildings comprising of Lecture Theatres, Offices, Libraries and Laboratories and Research Offices. Completed in 1997

COMMODORE PLAZA:  A whole new building complex for Offices & Financial Services in Kilimani-Nairobi. Started in 2011- on-going.

YALAH PLAZA: A 10 storey centrepiece mixed use urban development along Biashara Street in CBD-Nairobi. Completed in 2011

MEDOX HOUSE: Office building on Muthithi Road, Westlands – Nairobi comprising

of 5 floors and  levels of Basement parking and storage.  Completed 2014

LENANA TOWERS: New multi-story office building on Lenana Road, Kilimani –

Nairobi comprising of 9 floors and 1 level Basement parking with shops on the

ground floor.  Completed 2015

EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY HEADQUARTERS in Arusha, Tanzania. Construction of offices for E.A.C Secretariat, Judiciary and Registration Assembly, Prenary Hall, Low Courts and Conference Room.  Completed 2013

ARCADIA VALLEY APARTMENTS: Executive Apartments in Kileleshwa an upmarket area in Nairobi.  (Phase I & II complete)

KENTMERE VALLEY APARTMENTS: Executive Apartments in Kileleshwa an upmarket area in Nairobi.  Completed 2015

 

COLLABORATIONS:

East African Community Head Quarters-ARUSHA, TANZANIA: Large Institutional

complex comprising buildings for the Legislative Assembly with Plenary Hall, East African Judiciary Buildings with High Courts, Administrative and related facilities spread over scenic site facing Mount Meru. MSA collaborated in this project with Runji& Partners as local consultants for Prof.Kogel of BGS + ARCHIS GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany. (started in 2007- on-going)

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport-NAIROBI, KENYA:  TerminalMaster Plan,Expansion of the Passenger Terminal Buildings, Parking Silo and refurbishment of existing buildings, air-side apron with related facilities for the existing Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Embakasi, Nairobi. MSA collaborated in this project as local consultants for M/s Queens Quay Architects and Sypher Muller International Inc, of Canada. (started in 2005 – on-going)

CADD Capabilities

MruttuSalmann& Associates is one of the pioneer architectural practices to effectively apply the use of Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CADD). The firm is today fully computerised in all its operations.

All designs, drawings, details and production information are produced on computer and hard copies availed to relevant consultants, clients and contractors. Equally, minutes of meetings, correspondence for projects as well as external communications are all computerized, resulting in efficient flow of information both into and out of our office. This in turn makes our operations fast and efficient.

Software Used

At the technical level, the firm applies the use of severalcurrent software releases among them:

  • ArtlantisStudio visualization suite
  • Autodesk 3dsMax modeling & visualization software
  • Vray render engine
  • Piranesi rendering software
  • Adobe Design Suite

The back-up offices including secretarial and administrative staff also use computer software including the following:

  • MS Office Suite
  • Quickbooks

Equipment

The firm has a total of 10 networked workstations of current specifications. All computers are linked to one another by means of a “NetWare” network system served by one server and interconnected with printers and one another by a twenty-gang expandable hub link.

The entire network system is served by a state-of-the-art A0 HP Designjet 500plus-coloured plotter, HP1120C A3 plotter, HP5 Laserjet printer, HP Deskjet K7100 printer, HP Laserjet 1018 printer and HP Color Laserjet 2600n color printer. All the printers are inter-connected within the network to provide convenient and efficient production of information for the practice.

The firm has a high speed cable internet link with a secure wireless network communication serving the entire office premises.

Competence

All technical and administrative staff have undergone intensive training for various software. All the professional staff (Architects and Directors) are also well-versed computer users. MruttuSalmann& Associates uses computers for the production of 95% of all its information.

In addition to this, MruttuSalmann regularly sends various staff (both administrative & technical) for regular refresher courses. This keeps the whole firm at the cutting edge of information technology.

Other Resources And Equipment

The firm is well equipped with necessary and requisite equipment including a modern ammonia printing machine and trimmer, a heavy duty photocopying machine, fax machine, projector, standby generator and a corporate e-mail address msa@mruttusalmann.co.ke. For physical delivery and receipt of mail the firm is also a member of the   “Dropping Zone 50”.
